Perfectly ripe red and black fruit. Sweet notes of red plum and cherry coupled with hints of flowers and ripe cabernet, very clean. Wood perfectly integrated with the wine, sweet spices, scrub blended with the oak toasted aromas. Elegant, fresh, attractive nose.
Tasting phase
In the mouth this wine is intense, tasty and very elegant. Outstanding sweet, creamy, ripe and round tannins. Perfectly balanced, ample and structured. Intense fruit load. Lingering retronasal with notes of licorice and spices. Long and intense a aftertaste.
grape varietals
Tinto Fino (88%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%), Merlot (4,5%) and Malbec (1,5%). Grapes are sourced from selected vineyards located at an average altitude of 750-1000 mts (37 different plots from 15 Ribera del Duero D.O villages).
harvest
2014-2015 winter was a rather cold and dry one. Very hot and sunny spring when temperatures exceeded 30 oC in May. The summer was dry and the second warmest summer on record since 1961 only surpassed by 2003. Harvest started on September 23 and ended on October 16 by picking our Cabernet Sauvignon after a cooler than average month. The good weather and scarce rainfall resulted in healthy grapes although the yield was lower than expected. Gravity- flow winemaking process, no pumps used. Grapes is destemmed before entering the vats.
aging
12 months in 225 litre French oak barrels, from different forests. Due to the different vineyards the grapes came from and the type of barrel they were put to age in, we got 35 different wines. The wine we finally got is the final blend of all these wines.
